A friend makes VisiData and it's a dang strong tool for working wth tabular data. Check out this short demo of diving data with maps:
When people ask why bother with combinatory logic, knowing that it maps so poorly to silicone, to the point of making it quite useless - I think of Thoreau's
“This curious world we inhabit is more wonderful than convenient; more beautiful than it is useful; it is more to be admired and enjoyed than used.”
"Their Bionic Eyes Are Now Obsolete and Unsupported." A cautionary tale.
More than 350 blind ppl around the world have Second Sight’s implants in their eyes, after the company files for bankruptcy they find themselves in a world in which the technology that transformed their lives is just another obsolete gadget. One technical hiccup and they lose their artificial vision, possibly forever. The gadget also interferes with MRI scans and is expensive/difficult to remove.
@trevorflowers makes these sweet Tiny Memex replicas...so naturally I had to have one.
I'm using it to host my Obsidian vaults, but for a little visual jazz I pull highlights down from my Readwise account and rotate them every minute.
Fun addition to the desk :)
Want to make it a little easier for people to figure out if your mastodon account is *your* account? You can setup cross links between sites you control (or that allow you sufficient control) and your mastodon profile, resulting in a green checkmark and background on those links in your profile.
The process for github is illustrated below, but if you can edit the HTML (your own site, etc), all it takes is a <a rel="me" ...> link, as the edit profile page explains.
Wider Web is a Mastodon instance for people who Trevor Flowers knows and are of the open web and/or XR persuasion.
